Instagram for hotels on the Albanian Riviera: what to post and how to turn followers into bookings

The Albanian Riviera is one of the most photographed destinations in the Mediterranean. The hotel that does not use this attention leaves it to Booking.

Why Instagram matters on the Riviera

The Italian, Polish, German or Kosovar tourist planning the summer sees Dhërmi, Ksamil and Himara on Instagram before searching them on Google. They search the beach hashtag, look at tagged hotels, save posts. The hotel that appears with real photos and a curated profile enters their list.

Instagram does not sell directly; it feeds search. The guest who sees you on Instagram searches your name on Google: there they must find the site with the booking engine.

The profile: the basics

A clear name with the town (“Hotel X Ksamil”), profile photo with logo or facade, a three-line bio: what you are, where you are, how to book, a link to the site (not to Booking). Organised highlights: rooms, breakfast, beach, how to get there, reviews, offers. Everything in English with some Albanian or Italian depending on the market.

What to post

Rooms in natural light, breakfast, the pool early in the morning, the terrace view, the beach, sunset, staff, guests (with permission), things to do nearby: Llogara, Gjipe, Sazan island, Butrint. Proportion: 60% destination and experience, 30% hotel, 10% offers. Someone following a hotel wants to dream about the trip, not see ads.

Reels and video

Short vertical videos with the view from the room, the walk to the beach, breakfast being laid out, a day on the Riviera: this is the content Instagram distributes most and tourists save. No big production needed: a good phone, good light, licensed music, English text. Two or three Reels a week in season.

Rhythm and calendar

Off-season: two posts a week with archive content and early-booking offers. April-June: four or five a week, focus on planning. July-August: every day, stories from the hotel, guests, weather. September-October: late season, couples, lower prices. The monthly calendar is written in advance and adjusted to what happens.

Stories and interaction

Stories every day in season: weather, sea, breakfast, questions (“beach or pool?”), polls, answers to common questions. Reply to messages within the hour, in the guest’s language: most bookings from Instagram come through DMs. An unanswered message is a booking that goes to the hotel next door.

Creators and collaborations

Italian, Polish and German creators come to the Riviera every summer. A free stay in exchange for genuine content (not forced posts) can bring thousands of views in your market. Choose creators with a real audience in the country you care about, not bought numbers. Ask for rights to reuse the photos.

Instagram ads

With a small budget: boost your best Reel to people in Italy, Kosovo and Poland who have shown interest in Albania, in April-June. The goal is not followers but clicks to the site with the booking engine. Remarketing to those who visited the site without booking. Measure clicks and bookings, not likes.

The link to booking

Link in bio to the site. “Book” button on the profile. Every offer post has the call “link in bio”. Discount code “INSTA10” to measure how many bookings come from Instagram. An “Offers” highlight with the direct offer. An Instagram that does not lead to the booking engine is wasted time.

How much time and who

A well-kept profile takes 4-6 hours a week in season: photos, video, texts in three languages, replies, measurement. Either one person at the hotel with a clear plan, or a social media manager working with your material. Either way, the calendar and monthly measurement make the difference.

Hashtags and location

Always tag the location (beach, village, town) and use real hashtags: #ksamil #dhermi #himara #albanianriviera #visitalbania #vlora, plus those in the market’s language (#albaniavacanze, #wakacjealbania). Not thirty generic hashtags: ten precise ones. The tagged location puts you on the beach page, where tourists look for where to sleep.

What not to do

Stock photos, filtered photos that do not match reality, offer-only posts, bought followers, copied replies, a profile left empty from October to May, a bio link to Booking. Each of these lowers trust or sends the guest to someone else. The profile should look like the hotel: real, curated, alive.

Frequently asked questions

How many followers do I need to see results?

The number does not matter: 2,000 real followers from Italy bring more bookings than 20,000 bought ones.

Should I post in Albanian or English?

English as the base, with Albanian and Italian depending on the market. Stories can be in the language of the current guests.

Can I use the Booking photos?

If you took them, yes. Instagram wants real photos, not stock.

How much ad budget?

A little, concentrated in April-June, aiming at clicks to the site.
